support the Cooperative Program of the SBC and take seriously the mandate in Scripture (Matthew
28:19-20) to be a “Therefore Go” church. We believe we must GO out into our community making
disciples of all people, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything Jesus commanded.
What better place on earth is there to meet people from every country in the world than
Waikiki? On average 30,000 people a night reside in hotel rooms year round. In addition to
tourists, Waikiki is home to another 30,000 people who call this .7 mile stretch of land, home. Thus
the sign leaving our auditorium is true, “You are now entering the mission field.” A few of the ways
we attempt to minister to our community are through Hale Kipa (an outreach ministry to run away
youth), and Kahi Kokua (House of Help), which is our food pantry and clothing ministry.
Our
Ohana groups, (Ohana is Hawaiian for family), offer a way for our members and
newcomers to get connected to a small group of people who love with no agenda. It is in these
Ohana Groups that we see true fellowship, discipleship and ministry take place. Please consider
joining one of these small groups, even if you are only going to be in Hawaii a short time.
The family of believers at Waikiki Baptist Church asks two things of you today. First, if you are
a resident in Hawaii and looking for a place of Christian service, consider becoming part of this
ministry team. Second, if you are a tourist, would you consider Prayer Walking while in Waikiki?
As you walk the streets of Waikiki, please pray that the Holy Spirit will move in our community and
use our church to impact the lives of those who call Waikiki, home. Also, please take our vision
home with you. Place us on your church‘s prayer list. The prayers of God’s people are our most
effective tool in realizing the success of our mission in Waikiki and the world
